Supplier Quality Engineer (Asia based)
We are currently seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer manager to work on supplier quality support, focus on yield improvements with key suppliers, and help qualify second source materials.
The work:
- Hands-on driving of open supplier quality issues across the entire range of materials and in concert with Nest * engineering and contract manufacturer SQE.
- On site involvement with LCM, mechanical enclosure parts (plastics and metals) and packaging suppliers to drive yield and quality improvement.
- Asia based coordination of second source activities including: source identification, supplier site surveys, communication of requirements, sample submission, qual planning and completion.
- Supplier integration leadership including: documentation of requirements, correlation of testing between supplier and contract manufacturer, supplier process capability studies, supplier Key Process Indicator definition and reporting.
Continuous in-supplier and in-region intelligence: what is really going on at the suppliers every day, what is happening in the region that represent opportunities and threats.
- Development and execution of continuous supplier improvement programs across the supply base covering yield, quality and cost.
- On-site resolution of supplier quality issues arising at the supplier, in our manufacturing lines, or in the field.
Skills and experience needed:
- 10+ years supplier quality management experience in Asia and across material disciplines.
- Extensive experience with fast changing environments–particularly with U.S. based high-tech start-up companies.
- Familiarity with a wide range of Asia based suppliers and in working with Asia based CM’s.
- Hands-on knowledge of TQM practices.
- Strong communications and influence skills in both English and one or more Chinese dialects.
- Willingness to travel 80% of the time, primarily around the Shanghai and Shenzhen areas, but also elsewhere in * Asia and occasionally to the U.S. as required.
